First of all, we want to thank all of you for the lovely response we received to our last post. We truly, truly appreciate all of your support and can't wait to share so many of these projects we've been working on for the past while, with all of you. So thank you all, xo.
Something else we've been up to (along with all of the other projects going on) is to finally paint and renovate our main floor powder room.
The current state of this bathroom is not the greatest. I mean, it functions fine, but the toilet is old, the sink is starting to slightly rust and Im not even going to address the colours, since once you see it you'll know its not our style:
Plus we sold the toilet paper holder and towel bar on Kijiji over 2 years ago and haven't installed a replacement, so its not that convenient for our lovely guests that come over :)
It's definitely one of those rooms that we've been itching to make over since we moved into this house. Its another project we plan to finish before the baby arrives and since its such a small room, and we already have a few of the things we need, we figured we could fit it into the budget.
Ian challenged me to design the room on a budget of $1000.00 or less, and I'm determined to do it.
My inspiration for the power room is this room I found on Pinterest:
We love the colours, the feel and it will go nicely with the hallway and the other colours in our home.
Although I'd love to do something with fancy tile and all kids of other things, its not in the budget and I need to find a way to make the room interesting without spending a lot. I think installing a chair rail will definitely help with that!
I created a quick inspiration board to lay out all of our ideas:
As you can see, we're still unsure of lighting options (I've posted 2 options), however most likely we will need to go with the long pendant since there isn't room on either side of the mirror for sconces...boo. We do have that long crystal light installed in our small upstairs bath though, and we love it, so it should do the trick.
There aren't really that many things we need for the space. We already have the new toilet, mirror and paint, so the vanity, lighting, fixtures and accessories are all we need.
For the paint we've chosen "Antique Sterling" by ICI/Duluxe paints (its just a bit darker than what we have in the hallway) so we know it will match well.
So on with another project...aiming to have this one done in the next few months, so we'll be updating you on the progress as we go :)
Melissa and Ian
p.s for those of you wondering about the stairs...they are still a work in progress! Hopefully I'll be able to update you all soon with a pic :)

Inspiration Board-Nursery
Im back! I know its been a while since I last posted, but as we all know fall is busy and this fall has been no exception!
So please forgive me for my lack of posts lately...and in return for your patience I will be posting about the Master Bath Reveal very soon! Yipee!! Meanwhile, a friend of mine is having a baby girl in the next few months, and I offered to help create an inspiration board for her nursery. A few weeks ago, I posted about the photos that had inspired me, and the board is finally finished!
T, I hope this gives you some great ideas and inspires you and R, in creating a new little haven for your little girl :)
Let me give you some background on what T gave me as a starting point.
I asked her a bunch of questions and from her responses, I came to the conclusion that they wanted something with a bit of a "retro" feel, but that was also clean and fresh looking, with some natural elements as well. They aren't into a lot of pink, frilly things or anything super girly. She also gave me a few pieces to start with:
A dresser:
and a piece of artwork they liked:
From that, I took apple green, white and coral as some inspiration colours and knew that dark brown would be an anchoring colour for the space.
I debated on whether or not they should paint the dresser, but in the end decided I liked the idea of painting it. Since the crib they ordered is espresso brown, I wanted to add a bit of lightness to the space and painting the dresser white would definitely help to do that. I would also then add some new hardware. However, if they are completely against painting the dresser and would rather refinish it, I think they could definitely get away with staining it to match the crib....and again adding some new hardware.
Some neat vintage hardware would definitely look awesome on this piece :)
The chair is a chair that they already had, but T sent me a close-up picture of it, and its actually got bits of green and pink in the fabric, so it should easily match with the rest of the decor.
I would suggest painting the walls a light neutral colour, and then incorporating colour through the accessories in the room.
Im in love with the idea of a 'tree' wall decal. I think painting something like this behind the crib would look absolutely adorable.
I think the green and white keep it feeling 'fresh and clean', and adding in the wooden crib (and possibly dresser) add in those natural elements that the room needs. The coral adds a splash of colour and the fabrics add to the retro aspect.
SO......with all that in mind, here is what I came up with-T&R, I hope you guys find it somewhat inspiring!

Inspiration Board
I am so excited to share this new project Ive taken on, and I hope this might be a great way to inspire those of you who are re-doing rooms in your homes.
Since starting this blog, Ive had a few people ask me if I offer decorating services. To me, that is the biggest compliment you can receive when writing a decorating/design blog. To those who've asked- thank you for inspring to do more, and to continue on this path :)
Although I dont have a business (yet), I love decorating and DIY'ing and love sharing ideas with others.
Recently, a friend was asking me some questions about her nursery and I was so flattered that she was interested in my ideas for her future little girls room :)
I am in the process of creating an inspiration board for her, but wanted to show you a few ideas that have inspired me for creating her board. It was somewhat easy for me, since some of her favorite colours for a baby room are also some of my favorite colours.
Without giving away too much yet, here are some of my inspirations:
And my personal fav:
More to come when this inspiration board is complete! :)
